The organisation just would not exist
without its volunteers.RDA~I values
the tremendous voluntary commitment from
approximately 900 volunteers who help run
the groups each week.Groups generally
meet during working hours, so to
volunteer you must have time during the
day.
Are you a riding instructor with time to
spare? You don't need a special
instructor's qualification to teach
disabled people. We can do that with our
training programmes and assessments.
Are you a physiotherapist who would be
interested in the therapeutic benefits
that riding can give to disabled people?
We are very short of therapists and need
extra physiotherapists all over the
country. Two years ago we ran a
training course to train physiotherapists
specifically for riding. Those who
qualified have promised to help others.
We need voluntary helpers for the
actual rides It is not always
essential to be knowledgeable about
horses, but helpful. There will
always be someone to show you what to do.
We run day courses to train you as a
helper. I f you wish to
volunteer and are sixteen and under
seventy-five, are quite fit and want to
know where your nearest group is please
contact our secretary, Niamh Kingston at rdaisecretary@eircom.net
or the field officer, Dara Kearney, darakearney@hotmail.com.
You will be sent a volunteer
form to complete and return it to
your nearest R.D.A.I. Group.
