GROUP TRAINING 2010   -   FOR HELPERS & INSTRUCTORS
If any Group would like training Incorporated into their normal ride day please contact their Area Instructor of Area Representative.    This is to help groups who do not want to host or attend a larger Area Training Day.

Improving Lives Together North and South

All Ireland Conference.

The first Joint Conference with RDA Northern Ireland Region, and RDAI took place on the 19th and 20th of April 2010 in Killashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare. On the morning of Monday the19th of April, members from Ireland North and South, and members from the UK were welcomed to Killashee House, and from there they were taken to visit the National Stud. Mr. John Osborne, MVB, MRCVS, Manager of INS,took the delegates on a tour of the stud, and after lunch, they were entertained in St. Fiachra's Garden, by Noirin Ni Rianin, and Gay Brabazon.

The AGM for RDAI took place at 5.30pm in Killashee House, and the North South Conference dinner took place at 8.00pm also in Killashee House, and a most enjoyable evening was had by all.

The All Ireland Conference took place on Tuesday the 20th April, and was attended by 300 members from North and South of Ireland and also by members from the UK. The Chairman of RDAI Mr. Dermot MacDermott, welcomed everyone and opened the Conference, and Mrs. Elizabeth Gordon the President of RDAI gave the opening address. Mrs. Mary Walsh Field Officer RDAI and Mrs. Julie Jordan Regional Chairman RDA addressed the Conference and welcomed everyone.

There were four Seminars which the delegates attended.

Seminar 1. Gillian Bingahm ; Physiotherapy and horse riding from Plinth to Paralympics.

Seminar 2. Sue Adams Wheeler ; Learning through games.

Seminar 3. Martin Whyte ; Communications between members and Communications between members and riders.

Seminar 4. Kate Doherty ; A.S.D. and the relationship with RDA.

The Long Service Awards were presented before lunch by Mrs. Sam Orde, Chairperson of RDA, and Mr. Dermot MacDermott, Chairman of RDAI. After Lunch Mr. Ed Bracher Chief Executive of RDA address the Conference, and the Riders of the Year, and Bronze award were presented by Mr. Ed Bracher, and Mrs. Elizabeth Gordon. The two afternoon speakers were Mr. Fergus Finlay, Chief Executive of Barnardos Ireland, and Mr. Willie John McBride MBE, Vice President of RDA. Both speakers were inspirational, and Mr. Dermot MacDermott closed the Conference, and all the delegates returned to their groups energised and enthused from their first All Ireland Conference.

Dublin Horse Show 2009

Congratulations to all 8 riders and their teams for an excellent dmonstration in Dublin on Saturday the 9th of August.   Mr. Ronan Tynan  presented each rider with a rosette and congratulated them on their excelent display.  The eight riders were.

Alan O'Hanlon, on Appachie, and his team from the Laois Group.

Conor Stapleton, on Minister, and his team from the Thurles Group.

Kevin Kennedy, on Quest, and his team from the Mullingar Group.

Fiona Brady, on Pied, and her team from the Kells Group.

Patrick Dunne, on Joshua, and his team from the North Kerry Group.
