This year has been fairly quiet on the local front as
it was a season for fun games and development events.
Most regions ran trail ride events for all ability
levels and these were well attended and proved very
popular with the riders.
Festina Lente in the East Region ran a development
day for dressage and had 22 riders taking part. This was
a good exercise for those who had never done dressage
before.
Training is ongoing for Shanghai and some residential
weekend training sessions have been held. This is good
as it allows coaches and chaperones to get to know the
quirks of the team members in all situations. There are
only a few more sessions to go before the departure date
arrives so it is becoming intense at Baltinglass on
these occasions.
A big vote of thanks is due to the KARE centre in
Baltinglass for the use of the venue for training as
centres are not easy to find at weekends. The team there
are very dedicated and do a great job in turning out the
horses.
We wish the ten riders a great trip and success, but
above all have a great time!
